You will soon notice after carrying out a little research just how many alternative and natural remedies are available for people suffering from either migraines or headaches in today’s society. However, in this particular article I will not only be dealing with the type of remedies that are available but also the kinds of foods that people should be avoiding if they constantly suffer from migraines or headaches.
Some of the more common reasons as to why a headache may be caused include the intake of excessive amounts of alcohol, over eating, incorrect posture (standing or sitting incorrectly), too much stress (anxiety), and a problem with either their teeth or their eyes.
However, it is also important that we learn to deal with stress and how to relax and become more care free in our outlook on life. Unfortunately some people react to stressful situations by turning to alcohol and this will only add to the problems they are already suffering from and in turn could increase the amount of headaches they get.
Should you happen to drink to excess and you find yourself waking up with a hangover one thing you should do is drink plenty of water (you have become dehydrated) and take a Vitamin C supplement or other form of Vitamin C as this will help to remove the alcohol from your body quicker.
However, if you are the kind of person who can not lead a stress free life and it may be advisable to look at some form of alternative treatment to help you cope. Below are a number of natural therapies which may help.
Osteopathy
Acupuncture
Homeopathy
Yoga
Tai Chi
Or even the Alexander Technique.
But this is all well and good, but what about those people who suffer from regular headaches how can they be helped. Well first it might be wise to look at your diet and it may be a case of removing certain foods and drinks from it which can exacerbate the condition. The foods that should be avoided by these people are as follows:
Chocolate
Alcohol
Cheese
Citrus Fruit (Oranges and Grapefruits)
We’ve looked at people suffering from headaches, now we will look at those who suffer from Migraines.
A person who suffers from migraines will tell you how severe the pain is and there are number of reasons that can cause a migraine attack from bright lights, to loud noises and even particular foods can cause it. In some cases even worry or stress can result in an attack being caused. A number of years ago I was particularly under stress (just starting a new career in the Army) and found myself worrying about one particular thing and ended up in the medical centre for 3 days with a migraine attack.
However, today there are plenty of alternative remedies available which can help to reduce stress such as herbal remedies, meditation, yoga and tai chi.
Although thankfully over the last few years I have not suffered from such attacks, I believe the things that I have written above have not only helped me but will hopefully be of assistance to you.
